Sample Formulas

Choose any three numbers in a line either horizontally, vertically or diagonally and calculate them by adding( + ), subtracting( - ), multiplying( x or * ) and/or dividing( / ) as needed to reach the target number. Use each number once, and only once, in each formula.

Use of exponents is unacceptable.

5 + 4 - 8 = 1 diagonal
6 + 1 - 5 = 2 horizontal
9 - 2 - 4 = 3 horizontal
(7 - 5) x 2 = 4 vertical
6 + 8 - 9 = 5 vertical
8 - 2 x 1 = 6 diagonal
2 + 9 - 4 = 7 horizontal
1 + 3 + 4 = 8 vertical
8 + 2 - 1 = 9 diagonal
5 + 6 - 1 = 10 horizontal
9 + 4 / 2 = 11 horizontal
5 + 6 + 1 = 12 vertical
